 Chapter 6: The Scream of Starland

I opened my eyes. My hair was floating; I was holding my breath. The burble, babble and gurgle sound echoed around, forming bubbles. I looked at my surroundings and saw nothing. There was only a prismatic light dance inside the fluid. I tried to move my feet, but they were stuck. I felt a cold sensation on my ankles. There was a type of rubber-liquid thing on them. It was also sucking my lower half as a whirlpool. Then an intense flux carried away the goo, revealing the beloved people of my life. My family… My dad, mum, Lily, and Danie… They were all positioned horizontally and tied to this ooze. I attempted to touch their unconscious faces; they were hardly inhaling. My vision was getting blurry, and my lungs were on fire. I had to break this bell glass encircling us. I slammed against it with my fists. Again, again, and again… But, I couldn't manage to do a scrape. Suddenly, a golden silhouette entered the top of the glass. It was bright as the Sirius star. It was a figure of an adult woman with flowing hair, piercing eyes, and a large dress. She approached me and pointed out the mid of my chest. She showed an amber-like stone and handed it to me. I hesitated to take it at first, but later I heard a voice. 'Don't be scared,  my child. It'll grant you the strength to break free.' Her voice was almost affectionate with some confidence. 'W-who are you?' I asked with telepathy. 'It's not important right now. Just know that I'm your ally Nelly Elizabeth Starius Nyssa Starland.' She slowly faded away after that. I took the amber, and it turned into dust while I was holding it closer to my chest. The glow on my bust sucked it like a vacuum. My irises shone with white light, yet I could see all the veins in my body clearly. The dust spread across each part of it, placing itself parallel to my vessels. Mainly, my torso and brain veins were swelling up. Each particle of the dust glimmered under water. A blade made out of these grains appeared in my right hand. I jammed against the crystal with all my force. Stabbing, stabbing severely. Stabbing as if there is no tomorrow. The glass exploded with a deafening noise. The pieces of it scattered gingerly, one by one. The water sprawled everywhere. While I was about to set my family free, all my power flew into the air, evaporating with them. I was being sucked inside the mouth of a person. He was frowning; his laughter was clawing my ears. He had a purple spiral crown on his hazelnut brown hair. 'ALEXANDER, NO!' I cried and woke up.

I sighed deeply; my heart was racing like a marathon. I was taking a shower of sweat. Instantly, I found a pair of teal eyes beside me. It was my furball, Pineapple. She purred loudly on my quilt, chafing. 'I'm sorry Pine. I disturbed you.' I whispered, extending to my bedside lamp. 'I just had a bad dream. I'm glad you are here.' I gently scratched her chin. Pineapple curled beside me, and I turned down the lamp. What was that dream signifying? The golden women, the energy, and the swallowing part… I had to find its meaning as soon as possible. However, sleep made my lids heavier every second. I just muttered a protection prayer and sank into slumber.

A few hours later, I woke up to my alarm and checked out the date. Today was 22 October 1022 A.H.W. (After Harmonial War). Mistress Persephone sent the girls and I separate mental notes. It was telling that we were going on a particular field trip to the Earth. We were informed to wear something formal. You won't believe it, but they chose the outfits too! It was a suit that consisted of a kimono dress and a tiara; the dress had the symbol of Starland in the middle. It was made according to the style of the Earth. It was short at the front, and long at the back with long sleeves, and the tiara was much duller than the one in Starland. I put my hair in a big bun and placed it at the top. I also wore embroidered flats. Finally, finally, I was going out of this campus!

Anny, Julia, Shanya, and Neesha were outside alongside the students from other levels. Mistress and her assistants were also visible among the crowd. Our stops were the Earth Palace and around the capital. Persephone had mentioned we were going to be back tomorrow night. I assumed this was probably morale-boosting activity before the exams. Some minutes later, everyone rode on the fly porters (a bus that uses soil minerals to fly). Fly porters were one of the most common public transportation in this dimension. The teleportation stations could carry a few people. As you get, it was a better alternative for the masses. The vehicles set off to the capital, Toprakistan. However, there was something odd about the road. Our part of the fly port got split from the others. We were leading the convoy since we were of the higher class. Mistress Persephone, Mrs Lorelei, and Mrs Tethys were with us too. I searched for the other students, but I couldn’t track them. The fly port was going almost at a sonic speed. 

“Mistress, what’s going on?” I asked, putting my hand on her seat.

“Please sit Nelly. I will explain it later.” Persephone replied.

“Shanya, do you know anything?”

"I don't know anything, either Nel. All I know is I'm seeing my parents on tour." Shanya responded.

I grimaced my face and stared outside. The Earth was indeed a beautiful planet. Everywhere was covered with different landforms. I saw both arid and fertile grounds at the same time. Emerald and jade with amber flora were mingling, building limy waves. The sky was also a magnetic blue rather than the golden colour of my kingdom. Then, I noticed the jelly-marble towers. It seemed we were getting nearer to the royal palace.

Mistress, her two assistants, and the five princesses got off from the fly port. A group of guards surrounded and distributed masks and short cloaks to all of them. They headed towards the entrance of the palace, to the teleport station. Their covers were not the usual ones. Actually, they were face-sized screens which could produce different face holograms. Later, they all teleported to the crypto room one by one. This room was a high-security one for special assemblies of the state. It was invisible from the outside but visible inside. As in the Rainbow Dimension, there was an ancient safety system with a seal and riddle system. In modern times, royalty had added special features such as retina control or body scanner. Only the elites of the Earth and several governors knew about this place.

When they went in, there were only a few familiar faces there. Queen Gaea II, King Adam, and Minerva Akilah were some of them. Shanya formally greeted her parents and embraced them. This sight crushed the Starland princess, but she tried to keep herself in check. She alongside with other three princesses, showed curtsy too. Then, each of them shook their hands, placing themselves around the round table. Other than royalty, there were ambassadors of all five kingdoms with their assistants. Prof. Minerva launched the secret assembly.

"For starters, I deliver my warmest greetings, and thanks to everyone here. With the request of chieftain Persephone Greenwoods, who is also the president of the Earth representation in our council, we decided to organise this meeting." She began her speech, pacing around. "Today's issue shows code alpha, which means very urgent. The recent events in Starland and Rainbow Dimension created chaos among the kingdoms. With the reports from Persephone and our intelligence agency, we can see that the bear under our hibernation gets up. We are here to discuss to find new solutions for this problem.”

Everyone in the room nodded, and King Adam started to speak.

“As the rulers of the Harmony Dimension, this is a heavy responsibility on our shoulders. We must nip in the bud this threat. However, the status of the sister planet Starland is a matter of priority.”

“Indeed.” Replied Nelly, barely hindering herself from shouting.

The ambassador of Starland opened a huge hologram screen to show Starland’s latest status. The planet's core was 40% frozen. This implied one thing: A crisis of existence. A planet's heart had to stay at a specific temperature to be habitable. The nucleus was the source of life for every world. It provided fertile, warm lands, hot springs, and every single mineral and vitamin for existing. Also, the native spirits and late-comer populations were using core energy to work their devices. Freezing out this energy meant both a humane and ecological crisis for that kingdom.

“According to the latest info we gathered, the planet’s 30% is frozen. Also, 75% of people are struggling under poverty and famine due to sudden frost.” Said the ambassador, showing footage from Starland. 

“What about King Marcus and Queen Elina? The parliament members of Starland?” Nelly asked eagerly.

The Starland ambassador didn't answer Nelly, but instead, he opened another hologram screen. He put on a thought transmitter on his head and entered a secret code. This code was the frequency of someone's thought wave. Suddenly, the face of a woman appeared on the screen.

This person was no one other than Dr Vespera Andromeda.

“Mr Castor, sir, what do I owe for a call from you?” she asked.

“Dear Andromeda, as you desired, the council finally gathered. Our fairest princess is here too. Can you show who else is with you there?”

“Of course. However, we have to keep this connection short due to the secrecy of our place. Princess Daniella and Mistress Estela will report our status shortly.”

Dr Andromeda called both of the ladies; meanwhile, Mr Castor signalled Nelly to come. She was instantly beside him. A few seconds later, Danie and Mistress Estela were visible on the monitor.

“Greetings everyone. Princess Daniella Isabella Starland and Mother Estela are here at your service.” Danie told and noticed Nelly. “Oh my, Nelly! How have you been?”

“Daniella! I-I’m good. What about you? How are Mum and Dad?” Nelly asked in a breath, tears in her eyes; she touched the screen.

“They are in captivity, my sister. Lilyanna and I were saved by our captain guard Sanders; Doctor and Sanders with a group of loyal guards directed us to the Starry Lake sanctuary. Only a few of the members of our parliament managed to escape. Mother Estela knows more about them. I am so glad that you are well my starlight. We shall meet again." There were also tears in her eyes; Lily climbed up to her arms and waved at Nelly. As Mother Estela was changing places, a choir of groans interrupted the connection. This was the sound of Starland… And, it was starting to reverberate in the universe alongside Nelly’s glass heart.
