Rainbow Guardians: Chapter 12

Chapter 12: The Oath: Rainbow Guardians

The gasps overwhelmed the ballroom. Akilah’s eyes turned to the black, titanium crown in her hands. The black surface of the object was almost like glass; she scraped the polish with her nails. Her fingers filled with the sensation of pins and needles, slowly numbing. Her hands glued down on the crown. Minerva tried to move her hands, but she couldn't. Like marble statues, cracks appeared on her fingertips, and her capillaries exploded like popping candies. This status spread to her wrists, elbows and shoulders; Minerva bellowed with all her strength. “AAHH! Stop it, stop it!” Akilah fell down to her knees, tears burning her face. Her breath hitched in her windpipe. The men in uniforms dashed beside her; a soldier tried to apply heart massage and the kiss of life. Minerva puked her guts out, trembling. His efforts were fruitless because she had already lost her consciousness.

Minerva's symptoms made Persephone very suspicious; she split the whole crowd around and approached the crown, which had dropped. She opened her core charm to scan the material. Some artificial vines surrounded it, collecting some samples. For some minutes, the weapon analysed the matter, and the results came in. It was… No, it couldn't be… Her doubt had been confirmed. It was from a plant, a scarce orchid species.

It was the midnight orchid; a very poisonous flower that only bloomed at night and lived in Negavise. This flower could captivate you with its black, opalescent petals. It was on the list of deadly toxic plants in the Harmony Dimension! It attracted nocturnal insects with its nectar and fed by them. Even a few small drops of this nectar could kill a human in a day! This poison should have reached her brain by the blood flow; hence, Akilah’s consciousness might have gone due to some inner bleeding.

Princess Neesha Dimenia, Queen Crysthalia and King Synclair arrived at the scene. Neesha was barely holding her tears and put her charm on her forehead, visualising her mental map. A hologram of her brain activity appeared. The nervous system's link was fading away, which meant Minerva's mind wasn't producing the carnal electricity. Her psyche, on the other hand, was hyperactive. It was a dangerous sign because her body was more susceptible to death. Psyche energy was called with different names like the soul, divine point, and aura. It was someone’s life force, personality, psychology and mind in general. This energy was stored in the trunk of a person and flowed together with the blood; the most intense energy point on the body was the producer of the aura. There were seven kinds of the known psyche; the light, the darkness, the emotional, the logical, the earthy and the rare type, hybrid ones. Once core charms were built, they were placed on one’s body according to their psyche stores, and they could detect their respective elements. While Neesha and her family examining Co-president Count Derrick Hermes hurried beside them and took over the situation.

“Dimenian guards carry Mrs Akilah and our rulers to the ship instantly!” he yelled, showing them their direction. “Healers from Starland, Earth please follow our guards. As the Harmonial Constitution says, I will be acting for Akilah’s place in this urgency.”

All of the other council members stared at him speechlessly, just giving their approval with nods. The healers from both requested planets ran after the guards with Minerva. Neesha’s parents ordered her to stay on the Earth to represent them. She was their one and only heir after all.

Count Hermes turned down his angry gaze at the captured Stephen Hugo and kicked the toxic crown before him.

“I swear to the Creator Stephen if something worse happens right now, I will drive your line to extinction!” Count warned him with a menace in his tone.

Stephen Hugo attempted to laugh; however, the laser ties on his chest crushed his ribs. There was a sharp sparkle in his eyes like a blade almost hitting you. Count’s insides nearly froze with this expression. He gulped and coughed a little to come to his senses then, signalled the men in white to approach.

“The soldiers of Harmonia, to what do we owe to see you here?” he asked; his hands behind him.

"We are very sorry to 'intrude' your event my Lord; however, we came to you as the envoys of the miserable news," answered the leader of the soldiers, sighing deeply. "I'm here to announce to you the failure of the first step of President Akilah’s plan.”

“W-what do you mean?!” Princess Julia and Duchess Reina of Volcanotopia said in unison. Count’s eyes also widened with them.

“We have stopped Stephen Hugo going further, but we couldn't notice something significant," the leader of soldiers talked, bending his head. "Due to the weakened status of five planets' core systems, we couldn’t spot their trap. Unfortunately, each kingdom has Nano core extinguishers in its nucleus.”

“This is impossible! W-when did you get the information?” Count Hermes inquired, quickly pacing around.

"It is recognised after the 'withdraw completion' report of Negavisians, just before the ball, Sir,"

“What is the exact damage?” Hermes squished his mouth with his hand.

“According to recent info, 65% of the dimension of the core wide is deactivated. Planets other than Starland had started to use their emergency energy stocks, and the kingdom of light has approximately 50% more stock to keep them alive.” Another soldier in white replied.

“This is terrific! I can't believe we are in an existential crisis. These despicable bastards, ugh!” Count Hermes tightened his fists. “The members of the council state your solutions immediately please.”

“This was the last straw, Sir. We must do something in this instance!" Mr. Castor roared as Nelly stared at him, stunned.

“Yes! We can’t wait until they wipe out our planets and people!” Duchess Reina joined him, calling her ancestral war hammer and smashing the crown. “In the name of Volcanotopia, I don’t care what you say, but here, I declare war!”

Shanya looked at her parents and friends; they were arguing about this option. King Adam and Queen Gaea showed her the other princesses. With Julia, Anny and Nelly approaching the scene, Neesha and Shanya joined them. They were frowning harshly; there was only one common emotion visible: Revenge… Revenge for their future, attack for all the innocent suffered. Although she wanted to resolve everything more peacefully, she felt weak against the will of the majority. Nelly raised her hand and sealed a wound with her core charm, releasing some of her psyche power. Her palm was covered with red stains. Then, Julia Anny, and Neesha repeated her action. They set their essences free. Shanya inhaled and tried to wear a determined face, emitting her own energy. The light of Starland, the pheromones of Lovelonia, the flames of Volcanotopia and the dust of the soil with the magnetic waves of Dimenia twirled in the air.

“Princesses of Volcanotopia, Dimenia, Starland, Lovelonia and the Earth present their support!”

They formed a five-coloured rainbow cycle, and this fused energy rained upon the smashed crown, melting it. It was the ultimate declaration; it was the start of a new generation council. They had sealed their faith with their life. Their name was already decided: Rainbow Guardians

Alex was just astonished. He had never sensed such intense energy since… His dreams, yeah. Every single thing he witnessed was indicating the prescribed fire of war. The entire dimension was under the finger of a separate force! This was not an ordinary battle at that moment he understood. It was the fight for survival, and it meant one thing: He had to choose his side. However, where did he belong? This had no answer for now, but he had to decide soon.

Mistress Persephone called the princesses and her comrades to the Academy building. The ball gradually died down; the music, the food and the decorations were abandoned. All the people disappeared into dust. Only Lancelot Lextrum and Alexander Megavoid stayed in that wretched party. His teacher and Alex looked at each other to do something; Lancelot turned his back and moved towards the exit, Alex following. A smoky wind entered from the ballroom windows, heralding the thirst for vengeance.
